Founded 1946
Welcome to the Northern Golden Retriever Association's official website.
Covering the North of England from Lincolnshire across to Cheshire and up to the Scottish Border,
the Northern Golden Retriever Association was founded in 1946 by a group of golden retriever enthusiasts. The newly founded club held its first field trials in it's foundation year, moving on to holding its first open show in 1947. In October 1952 after being granted championship status, the club held its first championship show.
During a typical year the association holds a Championship show with limited obedience in May, an Open show in September. Being a dual purpose club we hold around seven field trials a year. These commence from late September, carrying on through until January the following year. The field trial events include a 24-dog qualifing breed stake, the winner of which being sent through to the Retriever Championship.
For owners of golden retrievers wishing to train for working tests and field trials, our sister club the Pennine Training Area, formed in 1960 holds training classes and working tests in the oldham and sheffield areas.
The officers and committee of the NGRA would like to thank all members and non-members for there continuing support in the various club events. We would also like to wish them every success in the chosen field.
